How it works

It works a lot like scouting: local leaders, small groups, and badges you earn by showing what you can do.

Create your accountAnyone 13 or older can sign up as a learner. Your T3 Action account is a Remote Hands account, so one sign-in works for both.
Join a cohortA cohort is a small group led by a trainer, like a class, a club or a community group. Your trainer invites you by email.
Practice and show your workWork through the training with your group. When you are ready, upload your evidence: a photo, a file, a short write-up, or a certificate from a training organization.
Earn the badgeYour trainer looks at your evidence and approves the badge. A badge from a training organization shows that organization's name. It stays with you as a record of what you can do.
Keep goingEarn more badges, help others learn, and become a trainer yourself. Some badges also lead to paid technology work in your community.

What a badge means

A badge stands for one thing you can do. It says what it took to earn it, and a trainer approved it after looking at your work. Here are a few examples of the kind of badges T3 Action offers.

Scam and Fraud AwarenessSpot a scam and help someone else stay safe online.
Software InstallationInstall and update software on a computer, the right way.
Microsoft Office BasicsGet someone started in Word, Excel and Outlook.
Hosting a Small-Group Tech SessionPlan and lead a short session for a few people.

Some badges come from approved training organizations, for example a CPR and first aid card. You or your trainer upload the certificate, and the badge shows which organization issued it. About training organizations

Trainers can also design new badges for skills their community needs and submit them for others to use. Coming soon

T3 Digital Navigators

Navigators are trusted neighbors who keep technology help going in their own community, a few hours a week: tech nights, device clinics, short workshops and drop-in tables. They earn the Navigator badge through real, paid work. More about the program is coming soon.

Who we are

T3 Action is the d/b/a of Teaching Through Technology, an independent Alaska 501(c)(3) nonprofit led by a volunteer board. Our trainings, accounts and badges run on the Remote Hands platform, and Remote Hands handles paid work.
